Well, it's all over.  The wedding went well, the reception was great, and the Honeymoon was perfect.  What else can we say?!  Thank's to everyone who came and made the day so memorable!  Pictures are online now, if you'd like to browse!

Less than one week to go! Everything is on track and ready to go. I wasn't actually nervous until we attended a wedding this past weekend and then it really hit me. So I foresee that I won't be paying much attention at work or in class this week! I'm so excited, nervous and anxious all at the same time! I've made a list of things to remember to bring to Richmond--I just hope we don't forget something.

Since this will probably be my last blog entry, I guess I should reflect on a few things. This has been, undoubtedly, an interesting and exciting journey. I've learned many things in the last seven months: Using the word "wedding" automatically marks up the price on items; Friends and family come through in ways you least expect; No matter what the crisis, my love for Ben is unending and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with him.

Now that I'm becomin' vaclempt, talk amongst yourselves and I'll see you on Saturday. I'll be the one wearing white.

10 Days

November 13th is coming up fast.  Everything seems to be falling into place.  The only hickup is that the original hotel we picked out (Comfort Inn) is now booked.  The Super 8 next door has rooms, and there are other motels in Richmond, though, so it's not a big deal.

With everything going on lately (election, HalloBean, wedding planning), I forgot that we get to go to Florida for a week after the 13th!  BANG!

Stef's been getting a lot of stuff done in the past few weeks.  I think we are at about 90% plan completion.  Not too shabby.  I picked out the tux style a few days ago and we've got most of the food decision for the rehersal dinner and reception done.  Things I left to do:

  • Bachelor party.
  • Make sure the groomsmen get their measurements in.
  • Help out with reception decorations.
  • Buy rings.

Pretty short list, eh?  It's off the top of my head... when Stef gets back from Richmond Sunday, I'm sure she'll have a few things to add in.  PS - Happy Birthday Stef!

Two Months To Go

Well, we're getting down to crunch time! It's September first and we have just over two months before I become Mrs. Schy.  We've gotten a lot done in the last couple weeks, so far everything's going smoothly.  The bridesmaid dresses will be in later this month. Ben has picked out the tuxes.  I'm going for the inital fitting for my dress next Saturday.  We've sent in a deposit for the chocolate fountain.  I've bought gifts for the bridesmaids, Ben's still trying to decide what he wants to get the guys (have any suggestions?).  We're just about ready to send out the invitations, Ben's finishing up the inserts.  I'm trying to get ahold of the music director to work out the ceremony music and I'll be meeting with the florist next month to finalize (I hope) the flowers.  We're still trying to sort out the reheral dinner. We can't seem to find a place that can comfortable accomodate 35 people.  That's the only hitch so far so I guess we're doing alright.
I'm happy with the way things have gone so far and look forward to a smooth two months and a fun, laid-back wedding.

Update From Stef

Due to the overwhelming (NOT) response from our readers about the food style/selection, we're going with the food station idea.  There will be a taco station, pasta station and a salad station.

We have also confirmed the time of the wedding, 6pm, with picture being taken before so that there's not a lot of waiting around before the actual reception.  I've commissioned my friend Greg Wilson to dj the reception.  He's a dj at a bar in Richmond on the weekends and a systems engineer through the week and I've known him forever.

I have found and paid for my dress and the bridesmaids will be fitted for theirs this weekend....Hope they like powder blue, poofy shouldered dresses and big, floppy hats! HA!! Can't be looking better than me on MY big day! We're looking at invitations now and should be ordering those by the end of next week.

That's all for now, I Love the 90's is getting ready to come on, so I've gotta go!

Food

Well, things are definately moving along.  Dates and times are nailed down, and we have started the whole speil of things we have to do to have a Catholic wedding.  Next thing we are going to try to finalize is the food lineup for the reception.  Aside from the normal wedding food fare, we've had a few unique ideas so far:

  • The "Ball" Theme
Meat balls (the kind with grape jelly and chili sauce), sausage balls, cheese balls, radishes (are there any other ball-shaped veggies?), melon balls, grapes, cherries, mexican wedding cake (in addition to a real cake, of course).  I'm sure we could come up with even more with a little serious thought.  No forks required... just toothpics!
  • The "Stations" Theme
Nacho station, pasta station, salad station.  The nacho station would have different types of totrillas, chips, and shells, along with beef and chicken filling, lettuce, cheese, salsa, peppers, onions, sour cream, etc.  The pasta station would have a few types of pasta (probably rotinni, spagetti, and tortolini) with meat, maranaria, alfredo, and garlic sauces and parmesean and asagio cheeses to top it off.  The salad station would be a run-of-the-mill salad bar, probably with some diced chicken and ham to make somethign a little more hearty.  In addition to all of this, we'd have a few stand-along wedding standards, like the meat balls from above, rolls, etc.

If you like the ideas, let us know.  Leave some feedback in the guestbook on the main page.

Yeah, so we were supposed to get all kinds of wedding-related stuff done this weekend, but we didn't.  Included on that list (at the top) was to finish the web page.  I managed to get a few things updated as far as the template goes, but that's about it.  Hopefully, the content will get filled in this week.
Is This Thing On?

Since Ben's all about blogs, I guess that makes me all about blogs by association.  It could be worse, he could be all about British transvestites....but wait, I kinda like them ass wheel....or he could be really into, umm...uhh...Well, I'm not sure exactly how it could be worse, but they always say it could be and they say a lot of things so I guess they're right.  I digress...

This is for wedding blogging purposes, so this is what I have to say about wedding planning right now.  So far we have the date picked, the reception hall and church are booked, we have the food somewhat picked out and the webpage started.  Now we just need to figure out if we can convince the priest in New Albany that we can do six months of preperation in five months.
By the way, our wedding will be in my hometown of Richmond Indiana.  For those of you geographically handicapped, that's 1 hour east of Indianapolis (via I-70), or 2 1/2 hours north/east of Louisville, KY (via I-65 north & I-70 east).
I hope you've enjoyed being a part of my first blog ever.  I know I did.

Since I am all about blogs, I decided to put one on our wedding site so that Stef and I can keep everyone that is interested in the planning of our wedding up to date.  More info to come (I hope).
